Well worth a few bucks June 19, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great vid to sample the quality of your new HD television. I enjoy watching it over and over again.
Great sampler December 23, 2008 I don't know what people are complaining about. This is a beautifully made and cheaply sold sampler of full nature videos and it does the job as intended. While very enjoyable on its own, this sampler provides a glimpse into their full-length, truly beautiful, high definition nature vistas, which will be appreciated by everyone who is not yet dull-at-heart from all the nonsense we are fed by the regular broadcasts and "action" movies.
Beautiful Scenes. A must buy for anyone going into Blu-ray. December 26, 2008 Would recommend it to any who is just getting on the Blu-ray bandwagon. Great for checking out the new BD players.
It looks great and for the price it is a good blu ray to have. June 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
All of the videos look incredible and for the price it is valuable. I use it to show off my HDTV and my blu ray player. Or just to relax at night, listen to the music and watch the scenery. Definitly recomend it over Living Landscapes HD The World's Most Beautiful Places [Blu-ray]. I thought there would be alot more content on the living landscapes because of the price, but there is about the same.
Buy it, enjoy it but don't expect the HD sampler to be the greatest movie of all time.
I'm glad I got to try this first. December 20, 2007 62 out of 65 found this review helpful
First off, this is showing as pre-order on Amazon. I'm not sure why. I have a copy in my hand right now and you can buy this from several other online retailers including HDscape's own website.
Essentially this disc is a sampling of 8 full-length discs/movies you can buy. I'm really glad I got this disc. I was close to pulling the trigger on the fireplace and aquarium discs, but after watching the sampler, I know to stay away from the full versions.
The fireplace footage wasn't what I expected. I thought I would get video of various fireplaces that would make your flat panel look like the real thing along with some great audio of the fire crackling. Instead it included camera panning from left to right, various fire close-ups and even background music. Yuck.
The type of footage in the aquarium video was very similar to the fireplace. It included fish and coral close-ups, panning and zooming and even "not-so-serene" predatory feeding. My girlfriend didn't like watching the little fiddler crab getting snatched up by the puffer fish. Anyhow, I was really hoping it was going to turn my plasma into a virtual aquarium. No dice.
The rest of the videos were very much like what you could see on Discovery HD anytime during the week. Nice quality, but they weren't really special at all.
3 stars for serving a purpose.
