I have 4 older cats and they all use it, even the declawed one. I suggest clipping your cats' claws and then introducing this scratcher. It has maintained the short length and even rounded the tips of their claws. I have not had to go back and clip their claws since they started using it. They do not scratch the furniture anymore. I have never had it tip over and one of my cats is over 15 pounds. The toy is cheap and broke off of the base within minutes, similar to other users. I am pleasantly surprised whith the emery cat.

Some cats don't like cardboard - but mine has always loved it. He's loved this new scratcher - he's had no problems with it tipping over like some people have complained, in fact he seems to prefer it to his old cardboard scratchers. It doesn't make a mess like the regular cardboard cat scratchers do, the only problem I've had is finding replacements at Walmart so I'll probably have to order online & pay shipping. My only complaint, is while it keeps his front paw nails under control, of course you still have to clip the back nails - but then that's true of any scratching post. If your cat loves cardboard, definitely this is worth a try. If your cat has always rejected cardboard, then probably s/he'll reject this too. But my cat gives it 5 stars!

It's too bad others haven't had better luck with this product. My two cats love it and are using it more than any other scratching board I've purchased before. Works well, doesn't have any construction issues (with mine, anyway!), and like I said, my two cats absolutely love it. I'm very pleased with it.

The emery board works great for my 2 year old and 7 year old cat. It took them both about 2 months to come around and like it but once they did they use it now multiple times a day. I dont know how it is possible to tip over since my cats dont step on the side of it maybe thats why it doesnt tip over. They love it though and I no longer see them scratching anything! They ruined a couch of mine and since they started scratching on this they havent touched my couch in months.
The product looks a bit cheap, but since it saved my couch and beds I am giving this
product five stars, for doing for me what it is intended to do.
Keep in mind it may be awhile till your cat warms up to it too.

I don't understand what all the noise is about. This is a great product. I have thirteen cats (that's right, 13) who love scratching our woodwork & furniture. This product has reduced furniture & woodwork scratching by 95% & I just ordered refills. My cats love this product. And so do I. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
